When Joelle McNamara was just 17, she was struck by the reality of millions of people living in extreme poverty. She wanted to make a difference, so she founded BADALA—a non-profit organization. Today, BADALA provides scholarships, microloans, and job training for women who would otherwise have few opportunities to rise out of poverty.

All BADALA items are fair-trade and provide fair wages for the makers. The organization works in Kenya and Rwanda, as well as in Honduras through a collaboration with SoloHope.
