Human trafficking is the illegal trade of human beings, mainly for the purposes of forced labor and sex trafficking. As the world's fastest growing criminal industry, it affects every nation across the globe. Every 30 seconds, someone becomes a victim of modern-day slavery.

About A21

A21 is tackling this problem throughout the world. A21 exists to abolish injustice in the 21st century through a comprehensive system to prevent human trafficking and also to protect and rehabilitate victims. They achieve this through their 4P Model:

• Prevention. A21 works to stop individuals from becoming victims of human trafficking by providing awareness, education to the next generation, and interrupting the demand.
• Protection. They protect survivors of human trafficking by providing a safe environment and by running restoration programs in their aftercare facilities.
• Partnerships. A21 aims to partner with fundraising supporters, governmental agencies, and community members to see injustice abolished.
• Prosecution. They work to prosecute traffickers, provide survivors with legal council, and strengthen the legal response to human trafficking.

They opened their first shelter for survivors of human trafficking at the end of 2008 in Greece. Today, A21 has established 11 field offices, shelters, transition homes, and administrative bases in 10 countries to help rescue, prevent, and protect victims of human trafficking.
