“She believed she could, so she did.”

This month, we’re featuring a very special charity called Together Rising. It was founded by Glennon Melton Doyle—the brains, wit, and heart behind the popular mom blog, Momastery. Together Rising has demonstrated the power of giving by asking its community of fellow moms to help lift women in need.

“We do something called a Love Flash Mob. It is a celebration of life and love and hope that we Monkees hold once in a blue moon. We come together here to support a Sister—a Sister who might need a reminder that she is loved and watched over. In short, we make magic happen, baby.”

They do it by showing up, giving what they can, and trusting that the money raised is the least of the miracles that result.

Take a look at the “LOVE FLASH MOB RULES” from TogetherRising.org:

  1. We can’t do great things. We can only do small things with great love. And so NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO DONATE MORE THAN $25. EVERY DONATION MATTERS.
  2. Because Together Rising is an official 501(c)3, every penny of your donation is tax deductible.
  3. Any money we collect beyond what these families need will go to Together Rising as we continue to meet the needs of families throughout the year. Every recipient of your generosity is thoroughly vetted by our board.

We absolutely love this idea—people coming together, with small gifts, to make a huge impact on the lives of people in need. Together Rising works in ways big and small—from helping mothers with needs for their children to partnering to rehabilitate special needs schools. All giving centers around one simple idea—that in circling around each other to meet needs, we rise together.

Here are some stories from their Love Flash Mobs:

  • The Love Flash Mob was held on 2/9/2012 to raise money for a precious mother, Kristen, who was dying of cancer and wanted to take her family of ten on their first and last vacation together. The Love Flash Mob raised $25,1000 in 10 hours to send the family on a vacation they would always cherish.
  • They raised over $83,000 in 51 hours to buy two vans for ill mothers who needed equipped vehicles to care for themselves and their families.
  • In October, they raised funds to build a wing for the Heartline Maternity Center in Haiti. They lifted up warrior mamas and midwives in Haiti by supporting an organization dedicated to giving women the opportunity to give birth with dignity.
  • And just when they thought they had raised all they could, they raised more money for Syrian refugees…
  • And then another $1 million more through a campaign called The Compassion Collective.

I’m linking to a bunch of articles in this post, because all these stories will make your day a little brighter. But I urge you to read the story about the Heartline Maternity Center in Haiti…and this one about the Syrian refugees.

We have less than one week left in our campaign for Together Rising. Through the end of January, we’re donating 10% of all sales (not just profits) to this amazing organization, and I hope you’ll join us. Also, please be sure to follow Momastery on social media so you can participate in the Love Flash Mobs in the future. Meanwhile, #standwithlove.
